Testing out Dolphin in Super Smash Bros. Melee 1.02 and Zelda - The Wind Waker. In both games the background music pops and skips somewhat infrequently. It's just barely noticeable, but enough that it's grating.
I've tried adjusting the DSP settings to basically no avail. At one point using LLE I was able to smooth out the audio but when gameplay became heavy I began suffering from major stuttering and slowdown.
My system:
3.4GHz quad core i7
16GB RAM
1333 MHz FSB
NVidia GTX 580
Realtek HD 24-bit onboard audio
I suspect that the problem might lie in having onboard audio, but I'm not sure whether or not that should make a difference here. Is audio popping and skipping just a consequence of a work-in-progress emulator, or do you think using an audio card would clearly resolve this issue? Are there any users or programmers who can run these games flawlessly with the latest version, and if so, what are your system specs?
