I'm having this problem in a few games, notable a lot of EA titles and it is quite distracting. You don't even have to turn the camera quickly but rather just walk forward. Items at the edges of the screen will despawn (or not spawn) causing a very jarring effect as you play.


I think it might be due to a bug widescreen hack is causing but I wonder if there's some way to fix this while still running widescreen? Like extending the range at which assets stream in for example.

You can go to the WIKI for the games & see if there is a widescreen patch for them. If there isn't, then you're either going to have to deal with the way they are or not use widescreen. Keep in mind that these games were never intended for widescreen TV's, so the widescreen hack won't work for every game

Yeah thats pretty common for most widescreen hacks. Most games need to be very careful about what they're rendering to keep framerates up so they'll cull out anything that shouldn't be on screen. And when you're designing a game that isn't supposed to be widescreen...
