Ivy Bridge isn't good at overclocking either (you can push i5 2500k to 4.8GHz with ease , 5.0GHz should be do-able with high voltage) . For Ivy Bridge , 4.4GHz is common . 4.5GHz requires higher voltage
As you have already known , i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz is still faster than i5 3570k @ 5.0GHz in Dolphin Benchmark (*)
Quote:I will predict one would need at least an 8ghz CPU by that time comes around
Higher Clock Speed doesn't mean better performance in Dolphin
See (*) and FX-8350 @ 4.5GHz isn't faster than the old i5 2500k @ 3.4GHz (stock)

Quote:If you think about even 4.5GHZ is not enough for Dolphin anymore well not at 4x native anyways. I dont think it ever was. Or is this simply a GPU problem? Is is graphic based on turning up the native res. Is my GPU with 2GB of RAM not enough for 4x native res on a lot of games?
Vram doesn't matter either . Afaik , Higher Memory Bandwidth does matter
And if you add AA (anti-aliasing) to 4x Internal Resolution then it's not 4x IR anymore (For Example : 4xSSAA + 4xIR = 8xIR which is too high for your GPU to handle)
