I see thanks for the info.
As emulation nears perfection, what hardware will 1 need?

Haswell overclocks worse than Ivy - so even if you get a i5 4xxxk it doesn't mean that you can get the same 4,5Ghz out of it as you did with your Ivy based CPU.
But it's a bit of luck involved - some Haswells do nice, others need insane vcore to get past 4,2 Ghz (and you maybe need to replace the thermal compound between the DIE and the Heatspreader to get good temperature - but this will void warranty) 11-17-2013, 09:48 AM
Ivy Bridge isn't good at overclocking either (you can push i5 2500k to 4.8GHz with ease , 5.0GHz should be do-able with high voltage) . For Ivy Bridge , 4.4GHz is common . 4.5GHz requires higher voltage
As you have already known , i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz is still faster than i5 3570k @ 5.0GHz in Dolphin Benchmark (*) Quote:I will predict one would need at least an 8ghz CPU by that time comes aroundHigher Clock Speed doesn't mean better performance in Dolphin See (*) and FX-8350 @ 4.5GHz isn't faster than the old i5 2500k @ 3.4GHz (stock) https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-th...-benchmark Quote:If you think about even 4.5GHZ is not enough for Dolphin anymore well not at 4x native anyways. I dont think it ever was. Or is this simply a GPU problem? Is is graphic based on turning up the native res. Is my GPU with 2GB of RAM not enough for 4x native res on a lot of games?Vram doesn't matter either . Afaik , Higher Memory Bandwidth does matter And if you add AA (anti-aliasing) to 4x Internal Resolution then it's not 4x IR anymore (For Example : 4xSSAA + 4xIR = 8xIR which is too high for your GPU to handle) Laptop: Mini PC :: 11-17-2013, 10:01 AM

So FPS dropping is the result of CPU then? As I thought. Thanks for the info Quote:So FPS dropping is the result of CPU then?If you get faster speed when using lower IR (2xIR for example) then the problem is not your CPU but your GPU (Edited . I mean a speedup , not the same speed) 6950 should handle most game at 4xIR unless it was underclocked (sleep mode / idle / 2D mode or whatever) . See Post#2 in this thread Try to add Dolphin.exe to "high performance" or whatever it is in AMD Catalyst™ Control Center Laptop: Mini PC :: 11-17-2013, 01:23 PM

Memory Bandwidth (MB)
https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-mi...video-card For Example : AMD 7750 DDR3 vs 7750 GDDR5 DDR3 version MB : 25.6GB/sec -> Handle 2x or up to 2.5xIR (Higher than 720p) GDDR5 version MB : 72GB/sec -> Handle 3x or up to 4xIR (Higher than 1080p) http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php...-1gb-gddr5 Laptop: Mini PC :: 11-18-2013, 08:25 AM

OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X RAM: 48GB GPU: Radeon 7800 XT 11-18-2013, 09:18 AM
My GPU doesnt ever get above 78 degrees Celsius. I can run Furmark for days and it will not ever go above 78.
