I got the latest development version of dolphin up and running. My computer was too slow for opengl so I have to do direct3d 11 because my computer doesn't support direct3d 12. I loaded up Super Mario Brothers Wii and found it artifacts during the opening cutscene and the propeller hat is almost covered with it. The castle also artifacts on the first level. I loaded super paper mario and it also had this issue but it wasn't as bad as Mario Brothers. Mario kart has the trophy artifacting on the character and track select menu and also the wheels have it in game. I loaded up smash and it ran perfectly. The latest stable version I wasn't able to test because my computer can't handle it and I like the interface of the development version so much better. Any ideas? btw, I always check for new development builds every time I boot up my computer so I am always running the latest but I don't have time to update my dolphin revision field.
Artifacting on all 2d games and on mario kart

I am afraid your hardware is too weak to run Dolphin smoothly. I see you use an Intel Core i3 3217u CPU and an Intel hd 4000 GPU. Your GPU is an intergrated graphics card, an NVidia graphics card would be better. Your CPU also needs an upgrade, which is a dual core processor with hyperthreading clocked on 1,8 GHz which is too weak for Dolphin. I recommend sticking to OpenGL with your Hardware, I don't think D3D11 runs that well on your hardware (someone correct me if I am wrong about that). Paper Mario for the GameCube and Wii uses Bounding Box techniques, your GPU may not support that on D3D11?
Super Paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Mario Kart Wii all run perfectly without any issues on the latest development build. Did you try to update your drivers? You should try to update your Intel HD 4000 GPU with a newer driver. You should post this in the general discussion, support or hardware section, not here. This section is meant for Dolphin builds and developers working on them (or providing feedback / suggestions related to these topics). 05-12-2016, 07:16 AM

I did confirm that the stable build does not have this problem for me though. I am saving up for a new computer that has an nvidia graphics card. I do think it could be an issue with my graphics because it is just over 2 years old but I will try do get OpenGL to run smoothly enough on my hardware. I did find it only lags on menus though. Thanks. Very helpful information. I will also try the driver from the manufacturer of my computer. I think it will probably crash though due to its age.
If you are looking for a bit more speed, you could try disabling PAL60 mode if you are running PAL games for stay at 50 FPS (which will be 100%) instead of 60 FPS. Try enabling Store EFB Copies to Texture Only and set Texture Cache Accuracy to Fast. Try running at an 1X Internal Resolution (Native) and disable Anti-Aliasing. If you buy the correct graphics card it will last longer than two years for two. An Nvidia GTX 970 will most likely last a few years more for you (althrough, you may better look forward to the 1000 series graphic cards from NVidia). Sadly, with your CPU, a better GPU does little. Some games on Dolphin are more demanding than others. Wii games are most often more demanding than GameCube games (with Twilight Princess being an exception). New Super Mario Bros. Wii isn't that demanding through.
Also, someone needs to move this thread to a proper section. 05-12-2016, 07:29 AM

The OEM driver worked. The downside is the Intel HD graphics control panel looks outdated but the arifacting is gone and I can use direct3d 11 backend. I think that the issue with the Intel provided one is that Lenovo may have changed a few things with the graphics or something or maybe it is a bug n the newer one. I am going to get a new laptop when I can afford it though.

I might try playing with driver versions and see which one will run faster but doesn't artifact. |
