There are wide angle optical lens you can stick on wiimote IR front camera. Not sure which mm could work, but they will lower the distance needed.
Are there smaller sensor bars designed for close-quarters play?

There are other classic hacks like taping buttons down on TV remotes, but you'll have to check they're the right kind of remote these days as plenty work over radio now.

Bad news is all the sensor bars I have are not 2 separate PCBs, but rather one long one connecting both sides, which would make disconnecting and reshaping the lights rather difficult for someone who doesn’t know… anything about wiring and whatnot. I figured the USB one was unofficial and might be different in some way, but both of the Nintendo produced ones I have are also arranged like that. Any advice? Are the sensor bars I have actually unofficial or something? Interesting. All of my experience with official sensor bars is that there are two PCBs with a wire or ribbon cable between the two. ┐(´-`)┌ Intel Xeon w7-3465X OC | Asus Pro WS W790-E Sage SE | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 FE | 8x16GiB G-Skill Zeta R5 DDR5-6000 | Windows 11 23H2 | (details)

Ooh that’s an interesting idea. I do know some camera folks in my local area, I’ll have to ask around but that sounds interesting! Any recommendations on how to actually attach them to the Wiimotes? I have a gut feeling it’s not something that’ll work with tape alone. (09-04-2023, 11:19 AM)MayImilae Wrote: Interesting. That likely means either I was deceived and these aren’t official Nintendo sensor bars, or perhaps they’re Wii U sensor bars and the build is different from the Wii’s, despite each being compatible with each other? I might have to do some shopping and try to find a sensor bar connected with a wire instead. I would PREFER to do it with my USB one though, it just makes this easier when playing on Dolphin 09-05-2023, 12:55 AM
My official RVL-014 (silver model) has two pcb boards and a wire, with 5 LEDS on both sides.
There's a black model that came with the Wii Mini, might have different internals, can't confirm 09-05-2023, 08:25 AM
Read some people tried 0.65x wide lens. Not sure about the results.
ie. https://www.walmart.com/ip/3-in-1-Clip-o.../848871291 Not fish eye, only wide ones. The 0.65 are usually small and wont be too hard to tape them to wiimote. |
