AR code change after 4.0

Not too long ago I upgraded from a previous version of dolphin (pre 4.0) to 4.01. When I bring up the game settings via right clicking game in rom list - > properties - > edit config, dolphin now opens an ini (named identical to the previous version dolphin used) however the new INI is stored under a new location.

In the INI for the game no AR codes are listed, simply the titles of the codes aka ($infinite lives).
  • The codes still can be activated/deactived
  • The changes show up in game even though no actual 16 digit AR numbers exist for that specific code...
  • Only the name of the code shows up in the INI.

When adding a new code, in the INI the name of the code $.... AND the 16 digit AR code shows up.
When adding new codes, I have the option in dolphin under properties -> ar codes - > highlighting the code, to click the "edit" option.
Any of the codes in the list that carried over from the previous dolphin install, I don't have the option to edit them.

The last thing is that adding any new codes, deleting old codes & re-adding them in from the dolphin GUI, breaks the game. "Break" means previous codes will now crash the game altogether on load or if its a code (for example any of the twilight princess "hold r to walk on water" or "press R to instant kill enemies") that activates when you press a button, the game works until that button is pushed. One last thing of note is I'm sure the code correctly matches my region and game id as I've tried taking the 16 digit AR code from the OLD game ini from my dolphin backup (before the update) as well as trying the same AR code from an online source (pre encryption/decryption)

An example of the game's INI before adding any AR codes manually from the dolphin gui.

So ultimately, the only AR functionality I have is being able to activate/deactivate cheats that existed for each game prior to upgrading dolphin.

Wondering if this is limited to myself, or if others have experienced it. Thinking there are some ini issues with the upgrade?

I'm working mainly with
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

Between 3.5 and 4.0, Dolphin's folder layout has changed in a few major ways:
-User data is stored in ~/My Documents/Dolphin Emulator/ by default, mostly to avoid people having to migrate their saves/configs between versions of Dolphin.
-The "Sys" folder included next to Dolphin.exe is no longer meant to be modified by users, and is meant to be replaced every update since it actually receives some changes every now and then.
-Game-specific settings (including cheats) are split into the (occasionally-updated) defaults included with Dolphin (in Sys) and your changes/additions to them (in ./Dolphin Emulator/GameSettings/).

I don't exactly know about the issues you're having with using the codes – sounds like they may just be broken in 4.0.1? Try 4.0.2 and a current development build to see if things work there.
