We all know untill now hyrule field was very slow even on most powerful of computers. During the end of the game I got like 8 fps on 3,5 dual core. Now I got same speeds on new direct3d plugin too. However, when enabling "bloom hack" in direct3d I get full speed everywhere. Where I got like 8 fps now I get 30 fps.
I think this deserves its own thread. This can give a clue as to what exactly is wrong with zelda and why it slowdowns so much without bloom hack. So it might be even posible to fix it properly to work even without the bloom hack, because with it,some part of the game are not rendered correctly. And I think you wont be able to see the map even when EFB reads are implemented in Direct3d...

Indeed, it's quite surprising really
However I only get 20-25 FPS in the Hyrule field, I get max performance everywhere else. It's fantastic

Yeah too bad this doesn't work for opengl because direct3d doesnt show the mini map. Also,I am pretty sure with bloom hack you cant see the mini map even if efb to ram is implemented.
Well like I said maybe this can help the devs to figure out what is going on with zelda, since this is huge speed improvement, which shouldn't happen ( this hack shouldn't give this kind of speed improvement )

I tried using the OpenGL plugin with the hack enabled and I had no Mini Map either, so yes, the hack is breaking the Minimap, but it's giving a huge speed increase

Now I must find some ways to win 10 more FPS in Hyrule Tongue

UPDATE : I just tried this with every hack available and every hack gives this amazing speed. When I choose no hack ( standard setting ) fps plummets.
I hope some of people who actually do the work on dolphin can chime in here...

Hopefully one day hyrule feild will be full speed Big Grin So Far i Only get 20-30FPS and full speed everywhere eles Thanks to the DirectX9 plugin Heart. But I have a save game with everything almost complete, And Ive heard that you get more speed when theres less stuff unlocked lol

Fullspeed IS 30fps in Zelda (25 in PAL) so that's VERY close to constant full speed.

A simple proyection hack giving such speedup?
Someone must have messed the code up.
I don't feel like wandering around it myself since the recent changes.
Unless someone wants to point me to the exact file that applies the hacks.

Wow awesome discovery, I just tested this and get a huge speedup. Too bad this doesn't give the same performance boost with the OpenGL plugin.

Forest without Zelda Bloom hack (DX9) 6 - 7 FPS

Forest with Zelda Bloom hack (DX9) 25 - 30 FPS

The problem might not be with the game rendering everything at once, in fact the problem might be so insanely easy to fix due to something that was overlooked it could even come as shock to the developers and users of Dolphin.

At least this can help the developers pinpoint and fix the problem since this is proof that the source of the slowdowns lies somewhere else other than what was originally thought.

This makes the game a heck of a lot more playable without the need for frame skipping, I disliked frame skipping because the game wasn't running in real time or full speed, stuttering/skipping occurred as a result of skipping frames.

Anyways thanks for discovering this, imma off to play some Twilight Princess on my PC. Big Grin

Any feedback or comments from the developers would be appreciated. Smile

look it up on google (and that IS a valid thing to say as you can search in code on google code)
