If you get it, give me your 2600K Big Grin.

But seriously, I wouldn't get it, look at the price!
Wait for Ivy-Bridge atleast, it looks good from the benchmark leaks we got so far.

The price for one here in Sweden is 8790 SEK (1215$)
I admit it's kinda high and the idea is insane.

But damn it's a smoking hot chip...

It's like €936 here.
Your CPU is already high-end. Just OC it and be happy Big Grin

Look @ Ivy Bridge.

I know I know.
Now I'm starting to regret that I didn't waited with the build I have, then it wouldn't be any doubts.

But it's really tempting....must resist.
With a build like that it's gotta be a monster.

A monster for a year or two or so yes.
Then a new architecture will blast it away easily.

The expensive extreme i7's are topped by the cheap Sandy Bridge 2500k and 2600k.

That's the sad truth.

But the strive for something better is always back in my head. It's an endless spiral.

Hehe yeah, most of us have that. Personally, I wouldn't dish more than €200 for a CPU. I payed really cheap for mine compared to the prices now (like €20-€30 difference Tongue).

Patience is a virtue, never forget that.
Since it's so new the prices are insane. Forget about it for a while, and before you know it, it dropped in price by a lot.

Don't you feel €9xx is too much for ONLY a CPU? Or are you that rich? Tongue

It's not about the money really. Some people like to spend their money on renovations, trips, decorations, furniture etc. for several thousands.

Me I'm just a guy who like to spend my money on computers.

I also like to spend (if needed) my money on computer stuff.
But the key part here, is patience.

If you have patience, you can get the CPU and perhaps a kick-ass GPU. But if you're impatient, you'll only get the CPU, and complain a week later that it rapidly drops in price.
