I read in another forum that this new driver was giving several issues on Linux, especially openSUSE (i.e. some native games were broken, problems with KDE desktop and other kind of bugs). I updated my Nvidia driver before knowing this and now I'm regreting it, even though my very few tests went normal (my Windows games under Wine ran normally, Dolphin builds for Linux work the same crappy way for me...). Downgrading the driver is not so easy for me because I'm still novice in Linux and I feel unconfident...

Has someone gotten any kind of problem with this driver under Linux (the best if someone can tell about openSUSE)? Can it be a so bad driver?

So far, the nVidia drivers in Linux are just fine. Smile Tried/tested the 260.19.12 and the 260.19.21's.....both working fine.

OpenGL is the most accurate, but sometimes the slowest, of the plugins available....and Linux users can only use OpenGL. OGL is quite slow with EFB Copy set to RAM, so set it to Texture...it'll help. Smile

As for uninstalling the drivers, it's not too difficult.

'sudo nvidia-uninstall'. It's self-automated, so it's easy to follow.

When you reboot, do the following and you can install whichever version you want:

1.) When in Linux, press Ctrl+Alt+F1, then input username/password. Then type the following:

2.) 'sudo service gdm stop' (replace 'gdm' with 'kde', depending on your UI)

3.) 'sudo sh ./NVIDIA-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.run' (This should be run in the folder/location of the drivers of intended installation)

4.) 'sudo service gdm start'

5.) 'sudo reboot'

After rebooting, it should work fine. Smile

This is the forum thread the driver is talked about.
I always use Yast for install/uninstall stuff, including drivers. But it doesn't support downgrades. However there are RPM packages for Nvidia drivers. What do you think about using them for installing, provided one first uninstall current drivers?
At the moment I haven't had much trouble with the new drivers, but seems these bugs are affecting x86 users. What distro do you have? x86 or x64?

EDIT: by the way, tried setting EFB Copy to texture, even disabling EFB Scaled Copy, which caused slowdown but necessary for pointer to collect starbits, at least in DirectX. If it helped, it did just a small bit. Maybe if it wasn't for the lag, it would be bareable. Using Slavezeo's rev 6176.
