My E8400 and GTX550Ti were running Dolphin wonderfully until I updated to the 3xx.xx drivers. I was hoping it would fix itself with the next update, but I've been through a few of them now and I'm still down to about 25% from 100%. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and getting the drivers from ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu lucid main. I thought I would check here before reconfiguring everything. Is anyone else having problems with the new Nvidia drivers?
Anyone else losing speed with the new Nvidia 3xx.xxdrivers?

I would love to know the answer of your question... 09-01-2012, 01:20 AM
I plan to check into this issue once I install Dolphin on my 32-bit Slackware partition. I've got some 29X.XX Nvidia driver installed currently, but I'm going to update it anyway to test out FXAA support. I'll give you guys an update when I compare the performance sometime this weekend.

I've spent a few hours trying to get Dolphin back up to speed in Linux today. Rereading my original post, I realized that I should have given more info.
I installed dolphin in Ubuntu with the Glennric ppa long ago, when I had a 8400GS, and when I upgraded to the GTX550Ti, I had to install the current drivers from that x-swat ppa to get it working. I've since moved to Debian for everyday use, but kept the 10.04 installation around for dolphin and various other things that were a hassle to get working properly. Ever since that 3xx.xx Nvidia update, dolphin has been painfully slow. I had been running 3x internal resolution, but reducing it to 1x didn't have any effect on the speed. This is what made me suspect that the new driver was at fault. I looked through the Nvidia settings and the only new thing I noticed was the conformant texture clamping check box in the OpenGL tab. At least, it was the only thing that I didn't remember being there before, but it had no effect on the speed. I have no idea what could be broken, so it seemed easier to start from scratch than to attempt to fix it I first tried to compile in Ubuntu, but was met with unresolvable dependencies, which didn't surprise me at all since I've been tinkering with that installation for years. On a spare drive, I was able to compile in Wheezy using a 295.xx driver, which got me a lot of my speed back. It now goes as high as 70% in Mario Kart Wii, the game I've been testing with. Before, I was at 100% with occasional minor drops. I'm hoping that this slowdown is because I used the the current, "dirty" version of dolphin that I got when following the instructions from the googlecode compile site. I was using 3.0 before. So at the moment, I have three questions. 1. How do I obtain the source code for dolphin 3.0 through git? 2. How do I downgrade the Nvidia drivers in my Ubuntu 10.04 installation back to 295.xx? 3. Shonumi, did you get a chance to test the new drivers on your system? 09-07-2012, 11:04 PM
I had a lot of problems with 3xx drivers, like some games run at 60Hz (not good at all for a 23" СRT), and i got a TON of unneeded resolutions in krandrtray, like 320x128. Why anyone will want to use this resolution when even oldest DOS games use 320x200 ? And even when i play those games with DOSBox or something there's no need to set my desktop resolution to 320x200.

I got a different revision of Dolphin compiled using the 302.17 driver, and it's running as fast as it ever did, so the 3xx.xx drivers are working. I think my old 3.0 installation just wasn't compatible with them somehow.
