So I was gonna download open office on my laptop, naturally I just googled and clicked the first link (well after the microsoft office oneDodgy) and the download button. So I am shocked to get a pop-up asking me to send an SMS costing 40 NOK (~8USD) to obtain a install code for the program. So there's this site studio-no.net that are hosting tons of free software like VLC Media Player, Ccleaner etc. and paid for the top google spots for these searches. I rarely get provoked badly but really this kind of shit doesn't belong on top of google, can you report it somewhere?

I guess not, since it isn't ilegal, I doubt they really provide you the download so it isn't like they're selling free software, and even if they do there must be some shit that gives them the permission to do that, because I doubt they would risk themselves in that way... And they paid google for the spot as well. You could probably sue them for lying like that, but you know, nobody does it..

Yeah, the technically-not-a-scam type of scam. It's ruled under the Commonwealth of Dominica so I guess they're probably legal or something anyhow. The only relief is that those who pays kinda desserves it anyway for their dumbness

Welcome back Gabriel.

Yes, FileHippo is a good download and mirror site. Never had problems there aswell.
You guys should switch over to Libre Office instead of Open Office. Tongue
