Any way to speed up EFB to Ram?

So I'm playing Resident Evil 4 and I'm almost up to the Regeneradores, for which you need the thermal scope, and according to the wiki page for RE4, to use the thermal scope you need to set EFB --> RAM. Unfortunately as I'm sure everyone here is aware, that slows down the framerate dramatically, to around 45%. This also happens for some other games such as Metroid Prime (X-ray visor).

Now, I can always just switch to EFB to RAM, view the Regeneradores in the scope, and then turn it off and shoot where I saw the plagas (in case anyone doesn't know/hasn't played the game, to beat this particular enemy you need to use a thermal scope attached to your rifle to see invisible parasites which are its weak points, then shoot them, otherwise the enemy simply regenerates itself). Unfortunately I'm a little wuss and Regeneradores scare me sh*tless, so I'd love to be able to just set it to EFB RAM for the entire encounters.

Are there any other settings I can change (besides the cache setting, which doesn't help much if at all) or anything else I can do that can help it run even a bit faster while set to EFB to RAM? If not, I guess I will just have to fight the regeneradores at 45% speed.

EFB to RAM is too much demanding for your CPU. The best solution for you is to switch between Texture/RAM when needed

Efb to Ram is also currently faster with the direct 3d backend which is unavailable for mac though.
