Any possibility to have 2X SSAA on DX9?

Any possibility to have 2X SSAA on DX9?

4x SSAA simply cause too much perfomance hit, gpu usage always 99% gpu-z. My gpu is gtx 470 and can't maintain solid 30fps all the time and occasionally stuttering ruin the smooth playable experience.

Funny thing is old revision such as 6xxx seems having different gpu usage like less 10%+ while turning on 4X SSAA with same internal resolution.which brings less stuttering in gaming.i've been always using older revison with 4X SSAA on but sometimes i have to use latest revison due to compatibility issue and have to stuck at auto internal resolution with no SSAA.

For more information, auto IR (multiple) seems using more gpu load too if comparing to auto IR (window size), i've thought maybe 4XSSAA was broken on older 6xxx revison too but after trying it seems it was working fine.

So here want to ask is there any possibility to have some light SSAA implement on latest revision then? to get some balance between image quality and perfomance?

Tested DX11 too, yes it has 2x samples (different quality levels) but it was way too buggy to play with, and slower tooSad

texture of IRX1 is too blurry, actually i think my gpu can handle IRX2 + 4X SSAA fine on older dolphin with lower gpu usage. But with later revision ,my gpu always running at 99%, full load all the time, and seeing the temp of 90'c of the card always worries me when my gpu will get friedSad

Remove the dead thermal compound and apply aftermarket thermal compound (Arctic MX-4) on the GPU chip

Super sampling is handled per axis, so 4x is infact 2x2.

2xSSAA would be 2x1 or 1x2 so you would end up losing out on one of the axes

2.25x could be done with a 1.5 scale in each direction but it would cause serious blurring since the resolve would need to be 2x2. Plus someone would need to write a new custom shader for 2.25x and that's unlikely to happen considering nobody has been able to fix the current SSAA shaders yet and they've been broken for over a year now.

gtx 470 and 480 are notorious for generating alot alot of heat, benchmark of guru3d shows that it can easily reaching 94'c after few minutes of stress testing. i did try many trick to lessen the problem but none really working, i'm, kinda like giving up already.

guess i'll stick with 4xIR for awhile then although i still prefer SSAA as it can totally remove those 3d jagged edge

just tried latest 3.0 r700 dolphin, dx11 still causing graphical glitches, tested on 2x samples and 4x samples, dx9 seems still better choice.

camparison shots as below

   
DX9, auto IR window + 4x SSAA

   
DX11, auto IR window + 4 sample (2samples and any quality same)
