Well, has any progress been made on this? I was planning on buying a gt240, but now that I heard about this, i'm not so sure.
Any hope of solving the gt240/50 issue?

What issue? Can you link me the issue number on googlecode?

I don't know the google code number, but if you search gt 240 on the forums, you get threads with users saying the graphics card crashes a few minutes after starting the emulator. It only happens in dolphin.

I knew Nvidia drivers crashed more often than ATI drivers, but does it really crash after a few minutes?

Apparently, according to other users, they do. Is there an ati card you'd recommend with similar power and price?

Quote:I knew Nvidia drivers crashed more often than ATI drivers You mean in dolphin right? Although I believe that that's not true with dolphin or in general. ATI and nvidia users seem to report an equal amount of problems with dolphin and as for general use nvidia drivers tend to be more stable with opengl applications while the two brands tend to have equal stability in directx applications, at least over the last 1-2 years anyways. Quote:but does it really crash after a few minutes? It seems to be just with that one particular card and dolphin for some reason. Only game I have ever had crash on me with my 260 in dolphin was metroid prime, but that's not related to the video card/video drivers. Everyone gets occasionally crashes in that game. And quite frankly it seemed to crash much less frequently for me than most other users (3-4 times over the course of an entire playthrough). Quote:Apparently, according to other users, they do. Is there an ati card you'd recommend with similar power and price? The 240 is about the equivalent of the 5670 in price/performance. In fact I believe the 5670 is significantly faster for about the same price if I remember correctly.

The 5670 is more expensive. I saw a gt 240 on evga.com for $50, and hd 5670s are going for about $75.
Not that it'll matter-I'm buying a 9800 GTX+ for $50 on craigslist. |
