RAM will not even boot anyways when overclocking, so you have to underclock it. The North bridge shouldn't really mind too unless your cooling is shitLGA2011 and LGA1366 are the only exceptions. Sandy, Ivy, and Haswell shouldn't be overclocked through BCLK, but a small oc shouldn't hurt.
p.s My i7 950/ASUS MAXIMUS II and i7 920/ASUS P6T ran at 4.0GHz, with Auto voltage for years.
and yes, my cooling is shit. CPU and GPU are around 50-60 degrees Celsius, so motherboard is probably around that temperature too. I'm going to have to check the SB and MB to make sure they aren't overheating. I'm not too sure what the safe temperature for those two are.

G3220 pairs with low end mobo ....
Btw , Both my Asus and Gigabyte boards blew up due to BCLK overclocking
In any case, I went with the i3 4130, and here my results:
1P 4xIR - solid 60fps upto 80 when limit is disabled
2P 4xIR - solid 60fps
4P 4XIR - solid 30 fps
A little disappointing that 4P needed to scale down to 30FPS, but tbh I doubt I"ll notice it without having a comparison beside me
