So I've been trying to run skies of arcadia, and my comp successfully played it until the frist boss where it said dolphin stopped working the lowest it spikes was 24 but usually I'm at 28-33.

So my question is, is my hardware strong enough to support it?

i7-3610 @ 2.30ghz, Nvidia GTX 670M, 12 GB:RAM

@marsuvee - In the future, please make your own thread in Hardware or in the specific game discussion thread (we have one about Skies of Arcadia, and it's pretty active). This isn't a general "can my hardware run Dolphin" thread, it's Dinujan's "can my hardware run Dolphin" thread.

Your CPU and GPU are fine. That's good for what you have (fullspeed +/- ~3 FPS). If I recall correctly, certain scenes always gave me 25 FPS for some reason (even holding TAB was useless O_o), even though I could happily run the game at 30 FPS (even with LLE audio) but that was a long time ago, so I can't say it's relevant now. Don't be hung up about 5~6 FPS though in a cutscene. As long as the rest of the game is relatively speedy, you'll enjoy it.

@Moac - You too. Make your own next time. Don't hijack the OP's thread.

The GPU I've chosen is the GTX750 ti. But I'm stuck on the CPU, I already have an Intel G530, but I'm guessing it would be too slow, so how about an i5 3350P?

I'm going to be using Zorin OS 8. (Ubuntu)

I know is a little off topic, but you should only get a Z87 motherboard if you are planning on building a hackintosh. As you know devils canyon is supported on the Z87 motherboards by flashing your motherboards bios. The advantages of the Z97 boards is that you are going to be able you run both the current haswell cpu's and next gen Broadwell cpu's. The Z97 board gives your setup a longer life since you are going to be able to upgrade your CPU down the road.

Just an update, I purchased a Z97 ASROCK board. It was on sale and cheaper than most Z87 boards.

But I ran into a problem with the video card. The original card is too thick.

I'm currently considering the following:

But the Ti is sold out. Would I notice a big difference if I go 1GB 750 instead of 2GB ti?

Well, I build a test system.
Haswell i5 4670k undervolted -200mV
Patroit 2x4GB 1333MHz 1.65V RAM (This all I had at hand, I might upgrade to 1600Mhz @ 1.5 or 1.35V, but I don't think it is worth it)
EVGA 750TI
160W PSU
Windows 8.1 Pro
Dolphin 4.0
Everything ran buttery smooth. Wii Motion Plus didn't work properly, but every game I tried was able to get constant 60 FPS. I imagine the only game that could give me trouble woud be Last Story

As soon as I get my parts, I will be testing
i3 4130
Galaxy 750TI SLIM
In Windows 8.1 and then again in Ubuntu 14.04 (Wii remote support is alot easier in Ubuntu)

P.S How would a G3220 fair in Mario Kart and Mario Party? I imagine pretty poorly, since it is only a 3.0GHz single core, but I have a spare on hand

It is not a bad deal the G3220, since it´s Haswell-based; nor is it single core, it´s dual-core. That thing can overclock pretty good (4.5 or 4.6 GHz with Intel stock cooler).

In other words, most games will perform almost the same on both i5-4670K and G3220.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.
