Is it just me, or are the Android builds broken, at least for the Galaxy S4?
At first (~v0.8 on Google Play), the software renderer worked ~25% of the time, due to the boot-to-pause bug. Once that was fixed, Dolphin was about as good as it could be for Software and the current state of the JIT. However, since about 2 weeks ago, none of the builds can boot with the software renderer even once. I haven't tried OpenGL ES3 with the recent Adreno fixes, but I'd assume it won't work. Enabling and disabling the buggy kernel features has no effect. Deleting the dolphin-emu folder and having the newest build regenerate it had no effect. EDIT: Oh, and while we're at it, has anyone else had the issue where the buttons on the sidebar (Settings, About, etc.) link to the wrong page? e.g. Pressing Settings will instead open the Game Folder browser. 09-19-2013, 08:33 AM
The JIT was broken on Android due to ABI differences (SoftFP versus HardFP).
I just fixed this a few minutes ago. As for the strings in the wrong place, that is a issue with the build system that I haven't looked in to yet. 09-20-2013, 03:20 AM
Hi Sonicadvance1, now that you've fixed the jit, what are the speeds like, cloud1250000 said he got 60fps on luigi's mansion on a htc one.
Could you make a video of the updated speeds? 09-20-2013, 08:02 AM
cloud's HTC One has the new V45 drivers so he gets reasonable speeds.
My DNA and SGS4 are stuck on V14 drivers which are /really/ slow and still a bit unstable so my videos would be pretty ugly. 09-20-2013, 08:32 AM
anyway, there's graphic bug in luigi mansion (related to precise jit (If I remember correctly)) and in game it's not running that well ahah I'll try to get my joystick working.

Even though the ARM JIT is "fixed", you still flush the cache after every instruction.
How does this affect compatibility and speed? I'd assume 0% and -70%, respectively. 09-20-2013, 09:34 AM
actually I`m bottlenecked by my crappy graphic drivers so it should run better then that. Also, I think there`s still some hack in the gles backend that slowdown the game too (work around for crappy gles 3 implementation). And then when this is gonna be fixed, what will bottleneck us will be the jit, which sonic is still working hard on it, fastmem also give a nice speedboost but it gots broken ahah...

Some findings with r85f067780a9f00503a5b6c21904565195f50282c on my rooted S4, Android 4.2.2:
If I start GLES3 without the root commands, the emulator seems to never start. Neither the app or phone crash, though. If I start GLES3 with the root commands, it works! There are graphical glitches that basically make games unplayable no matter the speed, but you can still tell what it's supposed to look like in most cases. It's worth mentioning that on the S4, the image is rotated 90°, so you hold your phone in the normal portrait orientation and view a small window. GLES3, at this point on an S4, runs admirably:
Oh, and these were on Dual Core. I tried to enable Fastmem, but root commands or not, the phone crashed and rebooted. I don't know what I expected. I also found an annoying bug: I'm trying to change the graphics settings to be less taxing (e.g. disable Scaled EFB Copies, enable Cache Display Lists, etc.) and the options are getting overwritten upon booting a game. Also, the Show FPS option seems to have no effect when turned on. |
