Dolphin requires ARMv8 hardware, so if you're attempting to install it on your Nvidia SHIELD Portable, then that won't work since it is only ARMv7.

GPD XD Specs
CPU: Rockchip RK3288 Quad-Core(ARM Cortex A-17+ Mali-T764)
Process: 28nm HKMG
GPU: ARM Mali-T764 600MHz
GPU memory: Shared memory
Power management chip: Japan's Ricoh
RAM: DDR3-SDRAM 2G
WIFI: Supports 802.11b/g/n/ac(2.4GHz)
Bluetooth: Do not support
OS: Android 4.4.4

Old Version from Google Play seems to work pretty good. Got a good amount of Games that are Playable. Shield yeah, it didnt work out all that well. But GPD XD works better. Even got the Play! PS2 Emu running (yet VERY slowly). Only thing is, the Device gets a bit warm when running a GC Game. But it works.

ARMv7 support was dropped months ago. So eith stay with this old version, or get a 64bit system.

Don't know a lot about the shield but with android phones you can upgrade to an unofficial version of the OS in most cases so that might get you to android 5 or higher.

I believe you can install cyamogenmod 12 which is based on android 5 I think.

Otherwise. When I had the play version installed I was getting the message I was unable to install despite my device meeting the requirement. Apparently the up to date installers fail if the Google play version is installed.

If the device was released with a pre-5.0 version of Android originally, it is a 32-bit device.

Upgrading to unsupported Android 5.0 builds will satisfy the 5.0 requirement, but cannot enable 64-bit support.

If you know of specific exceptions, please correct me and I'll amend the FAQ

Thats a shame. I'd have expected better from the shield. I just did a quick google on the RK3288 and get some conflicting information. The Wiki on the RK3288 lists it as 64 bit. The wiki on Rockchip refers to the RK3288 as 32 bit. I've just been skimming detaila of the ARMv7-A including the A-17 and found reference that some ARMv7-A are 64 bit but not which. So I'll give it up there since its most likely 32 bit and this discussion has hit a wall

The Shield Portable and Shield Tablet were released before Android 5.0. Before Android 5.0, Android didn't have any support for 64-bit code. So I dunno what you based your "expectation" off of; the Shield series are consistently the most cutting edge Android devices available.

However, the Shield Portable doesn't have an RK3288 chip. I think by that, you're referring to the GPD XD; in which case: it was released with Android 4.4, meaning they wrote all its drivers only for a 32-bit OS. Even if they update the device to Android 5.0, they're unlikely to re-do the drivers for 64-bit because there's a ton of risk and almost none of their customers would notice. This means even if it's updated, it'll continue to run in 32-bit mode. So unfortunately, you can't run Dolphin successfully on it.

The RK3288 runs a Cortex-A12 rebranded as a Cortex-A17. It's not even 64bit hardware.
