I recall Sonicadvance1 saying something to the effect that supporting 32-bit ARM CPUs isn't troublesome like supporting 32-bit x86 CPUs. That is to say, the reasons 32-bit support on x86 CPUs was dropped don't necessarily apply to ARM. He'll probably know more about it specifically.
