Nobody knows until somebody actually gets their hands on it to run Dolphin
So who wants to go pay a bunch of money for a phone to test an abandoned port of Dolphin? ![]() 07-07-2018, 09:38 AM

New Android builds are made every time PR is merged to the repository. That doesn't mean that any of the code committed does anything for Android.
And beyond some GUI fixes that got merged in in the last month, not many bug fixes or optimizations have been happening at all in JitARM64 or the GLES bits beyond some small fixes to the JIT 07-07-2018, 11:11 AM

There's just enough interest to keep things rolling along, making sure new features don't completely break it, but there's no real concerted effort to improve android right now. A good part of this is likely due to the current hardware not being /quite/ fast enough for most games - and GPU drivers being painful (as hitting a bug there is frustrating as it's difficult to track down and even harder to workaround), and devs don't want to be wasting their time on that instead of actually working on dolphin itself. That's not to say that there's no opportunity for optimisation left on the table for current hardware, more that anything more will likely require a lot of effort, as there's no (obvious) low hanging fruit left. 07-07-2018, 11:14 AM
at least something is done, we are not abandoned versions of Android and taking into account that there are only 2 or few more developers this system pairs ... that's enough and apart is a challenge. na more to say

I want you to tell ... in my opinion the hardware of Android terminals are more than enough to move the wii. A part there is a curious thing in dolphin ... as it is possible that wii games work better than game cube games .. is something that I miss since the wii is a bit more powerful in hardware than the game cube. That makes me think that something in the emulator fails ... but I do not know what it is. total if the gpu drivers were better prepared there would not be much complication for the emulator and that is my position 07-07-2018, 11:53 AM

The difference between the 'easy' and 'hard' features can often cause a larger performance difference than the clock differences between the gamecube and wii itself. Much of that is simply things that don't fit well with the design of more modern hardware, even on the PC, but the limited speed of Android-based platforms means you can't just brute force through this as easily. 07-07-2018, 11:53 PM
Along with what others have said about the state of Dolphin on android, this device isn't anything special. It would just be able to deal with thermal throttling better and have slightly better framerates than any other SD845 device. For comparison, next year's devices would be a much bigger leap than the difference between any other SD845 device and the Asus ROG device.
The SD845 was iterative and not that great an improvement, next year should be a bit better. 07-08-2018, 06:00 AM
Dolphin in its current position is Good. It can play 70% of gamecube games I think (according to lots of people)
I haven't tested a gamecube game that did not work, so I don't know. As for Wii not all games work well (Sonic colors has some Ui graphical glitches , sonic black knight and unleashed gets a black screen but (Xenoblade works Great thought and Zelda TP). |
