Analog Stick Not Working Properly (Super Smash Bros Melee GC)

When I am playing SSBM on Dolphin, I noticed that it is very hard for me to smash attack consistently as the controller does not detect that you are smashing the analog stick most of the time. To perform a smash attack, you need to smash the analog stick in a direction, but the controller does not detect that properly. Most of the times when I try a smash attack, a tilt comes out instead. Normally on a GameCube controller, a smash attack is very easy to do and you must gently tilt the stick to use a tilt attack, but on Dolphin the tilt attack comes out no matter how hard I smash the stick and the smash attack only comes out sometimes. Is there a setting to fix this? Is it just a problem with my controller? I have the Logitech gamepad F310.

Thanks!
