Dear all,

I've been lurking for a bit and trying to determine if my potential future rig will cut it. I see in all of these threads the responders asking what games these people want to play. So, do we have a list of the most commonly desired games to play by the necessary Ghz required to play them?

Clock rate =/= CPU power
IPS/KIPS/MIPS/GIPS == CPU power

This list would take an extremely long time to compile, and the data required doesn't even exist yet.

in a perfect world we would all be piles of sand with no ability to form coherent bodies of body

If you give us your specs, we can give you an estimate of what you can expect and what games you can play.

I've seen threads listing intensive and light games. What are the commonly asked for intensive games that would require a lot of CPU? We could work backwards from that.

There is nothing to work backwards towards. Clock rate has little to do with overall performance and there are too many variables to examine to produce an easy to use list. What you want is simply not practical to make.

Common intensive games would probably be the MP trilogy, SMG/SMG2, the last story, twilight princess, etc.

Light I would say wind waker and nsmb are probably the most common.

I wouldn't call SMG1/2 intensive without the LLE requirement. Because the OpenGL backend had such extensive testing around the game, it's not at all hard to run on the whole. On a Core i5 3570K at stock, a lot of stages can run more than double full speed, and I haven't dipped below full speed yet.

New Super Mario Bros Wii is VERY demanding with EFB to Ram. I'd use Crazy Taxi as a better example of a light game. It's what sonic used for testing phones thanks to how light it was.

^See we're already having problems just agreeing on what games to put in the list.
