I always enable triple buffer when enabling VSync. Ain't that right?
not in d3d. more lag + risk of tearing.

On topic:

I don't have ATI card at the moment. But I'm diying to change my 9600 GT for a red one. This MLAA is interesting enough to me most becouse of the very low impact it have on FPS, even if it blurs some textures here and there. The image does not have to be perfect for me in games. And I don't have a fullHD monitor, so when I use AA, I set to x4 MAX. Beyond that number (like x8), there is no reason to do it as the penalty in FPS just doesn't justify the almost identical image I get when setting to x4. Also, my native resolution is 1440x900. So, if the textures do get blured, it's too small and imperceptible unless I use a lupe. Tongue

Veredict: MLAA makes me happy /o/

Certainly looks interesting, looking forward to copy-pas... err implement this in dx11 Tongue
I just hope that it doesn't need some thousands lines of code to work properly... anyway, they should release the damn source :/

But it can be improved. For sure. So my hopes are ok. Tongue

And besides, I'm not dying to change my green for a red just becouse of MLAA [LOL]. It's mainly becouse I'm highly pissed off by the fact that I STILL can't play Mass Effect 1 in current days without the fu**ing Nvidia Physx embedded both in drivers and the game that just make my computer to crash every five minutes even after a zillion tweaks in the configuration INI files. And I refuse myself to install a 2 years old driver just to play a single game, a poorly ported one I must say. And I hate the fact that I need the damn physx to play Mirror's Edge with a better ambience feeling, one of my favorites despite the poor sales. Oh, and there is Batman Arkham Asylum, Game of the year when released IMHO. Best superhero game EVER since Batman Returns for snes, at least for me. And it plays like shit without physx.

Did I say how much I hate physx already? Tongue "Nvidia, the way is meant to NOT be played" if you ask me. But I need to have one green card until nvidia release that damn Physx SDK that runs using SSE intructions set, and not the current implementation wich uses a x87 floating point instruction set from a coprocessor thats even older than me, and I'm almost 30 years old. Do the math.

Enough rant. Back to the poor but promissing MLAA implementation. ^^''

Not sure if I would go so far as to call it flawed. It's a good alternative to people that don't have the horsepower for msaa or ssaa and the only real flaw is that it only works with dx9 at the moment for some reason. Which isn't really a problem since everybody here uses the d3d9 plugin anyways and few pc games use dx10/11, and most of those games can easily be set to run with dx9 (crysis, bc2, etc.).

... note if this has not been mentioned yet: the AMD drivers supporting MLAA are already out in the wild. MLAA at the driver level can be enabled, and thus far seems to be supported for most if not all DX9, DX10, and DX11 (of course) games, with opengl currently being worked on. It "just works" on Radeon 5xxx and 6xxx series cards, and apparently some with 4850s have gotten it to work as well.

A test comparison under Dolphin and PCSX2 can be found here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24032078&postcount=588

edit: by the way, it looks like a bag of dicks on 2D objects.

how does a bag of dicks look? O_o

So, you can just enable it in the driver settings and it'll just work in all applications, even if they haven't "implemented" it yet in any way (like Dolphin)? Cool.
Now it sucks to have a nvidia card Tongue Does anyone know if nvidia is also planning on implementing this into their drivers?

Pretty sure Nvidia will implement it in the near future. Tried it just now in FF4 (of course Wink) and it works pretty darn well. They weren't joking when they said HUD elements (or anything 2D really) are fubar'd, though.

At the moment it only supports Directx9, and while it's a great alternative it's far from perfect yet. It indeed looks pretty horrible on 2d objects but the performance is pretty great. Sometimes being almost free while othertimes quite a resource hog. It does tend to miss a few spots here and there and it sometimes introduces a lot of blur. Some games work better than others: Dead Space, STALKER and Crysis look awesome under MLAA while others not so much.

Here is a different comparision:
