If you're not going to respond to any of what I said would you at least mind telling me why you think I am close minded? This can be continued over PM if you desire it.

Ok natural violence.. This isn't a conversion anymore much less do I desire an pm with you about it, i mean really now! I gave my opinion about the two main video cards based on my experiences and gave examples. You went on with long winded statements not offering any real experiences that is helpful to this topic and have taken over this topic with this non sense. Then you go on stating your opinions and implying there fact and whats your source google search, really this is real debate please. Not to mention how you can't move on. That suggests obsession. Not really good use of my time. I mean, I shouldn't of gone on with the person before you debating my experiences because this isn't my topic to hijack but least it was productive and mature. He gave examples as I did because that's what this topic is about. What's a better card nvidia or ati and why more or less. To me your coming off as a little kid in a mmo looking to argue and for Pete's sake you asked if I wanted to carry this on in an personal message. No offense but get a life. I'm trying to resolve on issue in wii game part of this forum so please go away so I can trouble MP issue that I'm was discussing over there.

You really can't go wrong with either brand as long as you don't buy cheap ass cards.Ati cards in my experience have been far more durable, while Nvidia cards have had less driver issues.

Depending on manufacturers , packing and transporting , your luck and yourself (Don't do thing that harm your graphic card) , your (place) environment
Some video card are dead on arrival...
My friend use a Sapphire 6670 was dead after 6 months usage
AMD vs Nvidia , there is no winner ...ever . For Example : Both EVGA and ECS produce some Nvidia cards but ECS has very bad reputation (falling rates are quite high) while EVGA has good reputation . Same goes for AMD side , bad manufacturer will make bad gfx cards
Edit : forgot about "series / model " . Even a good manufacturer can make bad series gfx cards sometimes and vise versa .

^This

The reason I went to NVidia many moons ago was because of the crap drivers ATI had at the time (probably a whole different debatable topic). I came back to ATI because I could BIOS mod a 6950 to a 6970 and save a good chunk of cash. So I figured, why not?

But your deductions from your experience made no sense. Picture the following:
Quote: I think the roads in Finland are too narrow. This is because when I put petrol in my diesel car, which is American, it didn't work.
What this is is someone making logical jumps with no obvious link between any factors. This is a more comical and more stupid example of what you've done. Comical? Yes. Over the top? Yes. A completely different thing to what you've done? No.

Quote: You went on with long winded statements not offering any real experiences
The reason why his posts take up more space than yours is because he's actually bothered to do the following:
  • Quote what he's referring to before debunking it so that it's obvious what he's talking about.
  • Break his text into logical paragraphs to break up separate points, so that it's actually human-readable.
  • Used actual sentences with correct punctuation and connectives. While you've at least remembered full stops and the odd capital letter, which some forumites don't, your writing is hard to read
  • Used sources like the internet, which give a better rounded version of events from many people, rather than someone's bad luck.
Quote: Not to mention how you can't move on.
Because he's not going to let someone who's been rude to him and ignored his advice act all high and mighty prance around like they've defeated an idiot, because if no-one makes you step down a peg you're going to manage to convince an unfortunate non-expert to waste their money and time at some point in the future.
Quote: Not really good use of my time.
Much less ours, but we can't leave threads around full of misinformation, as it will confuse the many people who just google something and look here for the answer. For example, someone could lie that they'd read something in many forum threads without posting them to back their opinion up, and then be used later as a source that these 'many forum threads' actually exist. While you may not be lying about finding other threads with your experiences, they may even all be the same person posting in multiple places. I digress. Still, incomplete arguments are bad when they're left to fester.
Quote: At least it was productive and mature.
It wasn't productive, but you're right in that you came across as mature with that post. The issue is that what you posted was 'patent bollocks' i.e. you'd made stuff up (think fabrication) or taken your experience, and added the words 'on average', implying that it wasn't your experience, but instead that of most people. If you want to offer help, that's great, but you need to avoid implying that your experience is that of everyone, and that you know what you're talking about, because the person you're helping doesn't know the difference.

I'd remove that. It's one of the things that while you're writing it seems like it makes you look mature, but really just makes you look like a little bitch. I'm sure that you're not.

Please bear in mind that none of this post is supposed to be offensive, except the bit about diesel and Finland.

@AON3 Very well said.
On Topic:
I had a Radeon Hd 6670 Gddr5 Edition for a year and just recently upgraded to a Gtx 650 Ti Boost.
I'm having problems with both cards. On the Radeon, you CANNOT install the drivers with the universal install. Whenever it would go to detect graphics hardware it would BSOD. So I would install everything manually. Not a huge problem, but for people who aren't tech savvy that would be a challenge. Now on the boost I'm having random black screens, mid game of far cry 3 I'm having wierd artifacts. So in my case I'm having slightly more trouble with Nvidia. Note though, it's only once every other day something happens. And it's only with this exact card, not all Nvidia cards.

My HD6950 has a weird bug in Skyrim where certain textures (but only some of them, all of which had an alpha channel) would appear translucent. I didn't actually have a problem with this, as it was only ever funny, and didn't break anything... at first. This changed when the soldier pack for Caliente's Vanilla Outfits for CBBE and BodySlide was released. This included the ancient nord armour (famously worn by Aela the Huntress).

When Bethesda make a clothing or armour mesh, they remove any triangles which are inside the armour, due to the fact that this makes it easier for the XBox/PS3/weak PCs to run, as well as reducing clipping even if the animation and vertex weighting is terrible. Due to the fact that Caliente's BodySlide-compatible meshes can be used on several body shapes, all body vertices are left under the armour, just in case someone makes the breasts so big that some normally invisible patch of skin bursts out of the armour. This is where the issue arose.

Due to the fact that my younger brother likes to sneak up on me and watch me play Skyrim, I have to do my best to censor the game, for example by only using the NeverNude variant of CBBE, and resisting the urge to install realistic super-resolution blood textures. However, there was the aforementioned issue of the occasional transparent outfit. There was the new CBBE-compatible outfit, which had the full body underneath the armour. These two things, when both on the same install, suddenly raised the inappropriate-for-children level to over 9000. I had to find a fix.

Even though I'd previously looked the issue up an found nothing, I had another look. After much trawling, I found someone with a different issue entirely (as in he didn't mention armours), but he had got the occasional transparent texture. At no point in the thread had he mentioned fixing the issue, just that he used to have it. What he did say was that he'd gone meddling in Catalyst Control Centre, and had found something weird. What he had discovered was that whatever you had it set to in-game, AMD where overriding it, and forcing 8x AF. He said this was bad, and I sort of agreed. So I went and fixed it. Low and behold, I couldn't see any difference... except Aela had suddenly lost her exhibitionist desires. The kingdom was saved.

This ended up more long winded, and far less hilarious than I was going for. Either way, AMD's drivers were causing issues with their default settings.

Nice posts by NV and AON3. If people are going to come here and talk as if they know what they're talking about, they need to be able hold a conversation and explain themselves and express exactly what it is that they know and how they know it. People should be held accountable for what they say, and they don't get to wander off when the temperature gets too high.

I can't say that I like it when users get badgered to death about an issue, but I don't think we're at that point yet. People just want the people who make claims to talk about those claims more clearly. There's nothing wrong with that.
