Hi friends,
I think I've done some solid research and I am looking for some confirmation:
I'm 95% set on building a PC, this one pretty much verbatim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8vRVnL_l4s
My #1 goal, zero compromise, is to be able to play melee and project plus (project M) netplay at 60fps with the higher definition texture packs/upscaling enabled. Being able to emulate other games, play AAA titles at high frame rates, stream, edit etc. are all nice bonuses but mostly auxiliary--which is why I think this build is a good fit for me. For reference, this build is putting out between 100-200 FPS on max settings for most modern games.
I was ready to buy until I remembered this: https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/faq/
The CPU I am planning on buying is is:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core
3.2GHz baseclock, 3.6GHz turbo
6 cores, 12 threads
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XTQ...9P9EE4OAFI
and fwiw I'm using this graphics card, from what I gather this is much less important for Dolphin and likely overpowered for my primary purpose:
PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083TR...PDKIKX0DER
Is this good enough for seamless dolphin/netplay performance?
Is this CPU going to give me adequate performance or something I'll be really happy with for emulation? This setup appears to work great for other use cases that require more cores than dolphin and a strong GPU.
The price, performance, upgradability, flexibility outlined in the youtube vid above has me pretty set on this. So I would love to know. Thank you to anyone who helps :]

Quote:AMD: Dolphin's workload didn't match the strengths of AMD processors until the Ryzen line. As such, we can only recommend Ryzen or newer for Dolphin among AMD's line of processors.
