What i really want as my next PC is something as fast as my current PC but in a small cool fanless box along with 30-40Tb HDD. Because except a very few games in dolphin, MAME, PCSX2, everything is more than enough for daily use. But i think no company will be able to make something like that in a five years or so, and when they will be able, software will be way too heavy for that machine.

Your specs according to your profile:
Processor/CPU: Phenom II X4 955 BE @3.8GHz Video Card/GPU: GeForce 440GT 2GB Memory/RAM: 16Gb You could build something like what you describe next year (minus the 30-40 TB of HDD space, that will never happen). The GT 440 is already a low power card with low profile version available that can be passively cooled quite easily. An Ivy bridge ULV chip will have a TDP low enough to be passively cooled and should have similar performance to your current cpu. MiniITX LGA1155 boards are already available that fit inside a small HTPC chassis.

I think I'll wait till the 8xxx series is released instead. My interest for building have cooled off completely and I almost don't even play any Dolphin or PCSX2 anymore.
I have other things now days to do then thinking about spending money and playing games sadly. 12-30-2011, 04:27 AM

Give it a year and you'll be back to normal.

Yeah maybe a year or a year and a half and I'm back to normal.
I sold my Phenom II 1100T and some other left overs recently, it felt really good selling some old stuff. Before I do the "8xxx series" build I'll make sure to sell the other old stuff I have now. 01-01-2012, 02:24 AM
Relax, this happens to me from times to times, specially when I'm busy or have new things to do, that I didn't use to before, like new job etc etc. I was at one of this times this year, and coincidence or not, when this happens like you I limit myself to posting only in Delphino Plaza.
Like NV said, give it a year. What happens is that we got the most and the best of the present market of Hardware and Software in many ways, and now we are tired of it and want something new. The entire industry educates us to want that. When big new things come, your interest will light up again. Right now I'm amazed with my new tablet with Tegra 2 GPU, I never thought I'd have that power in a 7' inch touch device. It made me start playing N64 again, on the N64 Android emulator. It is just amazing and I'm glued to it. This is what we need in PCs. I'm done with them adding numbers and making things smaller without innovation.
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit Creators Update

I really wish I could relax, but lately I get anxious and feel guilty when I do fun things like playing games on my spare time. I haven't exercised or trained for some time now, I think I gained 6 kilos these last 6 months (I weigh 78kg) And not be able to wear your favorite suit is kinda depressing. Limiting myself only to post here in Delfino Plaza is a way to spend less time in front of the computer on my spare time. And I have started to play portable games more and more so I can play on my way to and from work. 6 kilos is simple to get rid of and train away, but it's annoying when you get bigger and the suits gets smaller... |
