Alienware M14X - Dolphin = Sloooooow

Hi Everyone

I have been trying to play 'Dolphin' 3.5 on my new Alienware M14X (Yeah I know they are normally overpriced, I got a really good deal) but have been getting less than brilliant results so far.

Firstly I am only trying to play backups of my collection of GameCube/Wii games, As my Wii recently died. No illegal downloading here.

My M14x has an i7-3630QM AND 16GB DDR3 RAM. I am using the latest nvidia drivers.

I have so far tried to play Zelda - Wind Waker, Paper Mario & Smash Bros Brawl. All games that I have seen running 60fps+ on lesser laptops on youtube.

I am getting around 30fps if I am lucky (around 50-55% Speed). It is definitely set to use my 650m instead of the on board card, Will only allow me to use Direct3d 9 and OpenGL as when I set it to D3D11 it tells me that it 'Failed to enumerate outputs'. It runs a bit faster using OpenGL but not considerably so.

Does anyone have any experience getting dolphin to run well on a similar spec machine? Is there a specific graphics driver I should be using? With the specs of this machine it should certainly be running faster than it is. I have been using the recommended settings for each game on the dolphin wiki, I have also tried turning the resolution right down but it is still slow as hell.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers Smile

Not all games run at 60 FPS
NTSC : 30 or 60
PAL : 25 or 50
Zelda WW is a 25/30 FPS game

Do not select graphic adaptor via Dolphin , leave it as default (Integrated GPU). 'Failed to enumerate outputs' appears because you did that with Dolphin
Use Nvidia Control Panel !

You will need to know what's your CPU clock speed when Dolphin is running
Realtemp is the best software for that

Most people don't know this, but WW PAL is a 30/50 FPS game. It runs 50 FPS in some places (notably when loading the Nintendo logo, some other places I think), but for the most part, it runs at 30 FPS, same as the NTSC-U/J versions.
