Thanks that will do for now! (i was downloading from: dl.dolphin-emu.org/builds) this is a lot better.
will the android builds move to the main download page? (in the future) 06-26-2014, 01:36 PM
I agree with abdulhkeem on this, the site would benefit by adding Android builds to the Downloads page. PPSSPP does it this way and I find it makes their site much more usable for people looking for Android builds. Finding Dolphin Android builds is needlessly convoluted right now.

I think that's because PPSSPP runs pretty well on a lot of ARM devices, where as Dolphin runs good one a total of... one. And due to how demanding GC emulation is, it's still not full speed in games, except maybe Wario Ware.

I think that would be a much more compelling line of reasoning if it wasn't for the fact that the Android version of Dolphin is already listed on the Google Play store with close to a million downloads. As it is now people clearly want to use Dolphin on Android and are certainly already downloading it regardless of if it works well or not. One of the main effects of not including Android builds on the Downloads page at this point is hiding the fact that there are updated versions beyond 0.13 and instead of users avoiding the program altogether are likely instead downloading a six month old build. I see no real downside for offering Android builds on the Downloads page because of this. Personally I would like to see a link to Dolphin on the Google Play store there as well, perhaps underneath the stable versions section. |
