Hey devs/people,

I have one of those knock offs which won't show up in any device's BT scan yet Dolphin can connect and I'm fine with it.

However, I'd like to tinker about it since Cemu is also using regular scan and can't find it. (I heard with WiiU Nintendo dropped some hardware support or kernel or something embedded in a game so it works different than a Wii, and BT PT will never be implemented for Cemu)

After it connects to Dolphin, it shows up as a regular BT device in scans, and it's still visible after I force close dolphin and I can connect to it via regular device scan yet it doesn't work even if it's paired.

What magic did you guys do? Is there any possibility for you to inject your code into an open soure BT driver to see the device?

Thanks.

I'd bet that it already does work with an "open source BT driver" in Linux "out of the box".
Every knock off Wii Remote that I have tried in Linux just works.
The Windows Bluetooth stack isn't as good as it could be.

Yeah I never actually had issues with third party wiimotes in Linux. passthrough is just nice solution for Windows users because lmao @ telling a user to switch an entire ass OS for one small thing.

Passthrough also helps makes motion+ games less finicky in general. A few titles will just fail to detect the nunchuk until you replug it a few times. In passthrough mode it just works.

Hey, thanks for getting back.

It doesn't show up on Android (Linux based) but let me quickly try a live ubuntu and get back to you.

Android's Bluetooth stack doesn't even support official Wii Remotes, as it happens.

Well that's still something. Ubuntu 18.04 live usb (with broken bluez but updated it) finds it with its full name (Nintendo RVL CNT 01) and shows it as connected as long as the power/1+2 buttons are pressed for sync mode and the leds are blinking. When the leds stop blinking it disconnects (regular sync button at the back doesn't make it show up, only power or 1+2).

(sorry for replying to an old thread)

I'm on the same boat.

I have 4 Wii remote controllers:

* two genuine ones: The appear when I do a Bluetooth scan
* two knock-off, bought from different sellers: They DO NOT appear when I do a Bluetooth scan:
    * Tried on Linux, Android, Windows

But on Windows + Dolphin + Passthru they can connect to Dolphin.... that's only way that I can use them in a PC.
(tested with Dolphin 5.0-15993 + Win 10 Pro)

Anything in particular that Dolphin is doing in order to discover + connect to the knock-off Wii devices?

Thanks!
