Currently, netplay requires you to turn off "Dual Core" mode which causes slowdown. (Maybe that's what knglrk meant by "laggy")
There are games that work.
Of the ones I tested, Mario Kart DD, Mario Party 7, Wave Race, and Nintendo Puzzle Collection worked well.
SSBM did not work. It usually desyncs within a few minutes.

There are probably many more games that work.

some games will work but they have to be games that doesn't need dual core needed.

like 2d games that work perfectly for me was:

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures for Nintendo GameCube ( i tested it and work great with netplay)

like billiard26 said

Afaik, "Four Swords" can't be played with multiple gamecube controllers, it requires players 2-4 to use a gba, which isn't be supported by netplay.
