About game banners and other info

How does Dolphin get its banner images and other information about the games you have on your library? Is it some sort of GoodTools-style software database? I ask because some of my games don't get a banner image and I'm wondering how to fix it. Do I need to re-rip these games?

If they're Gamecube games they start with a banner. If they're Wii games you have to create a save file in the game.

Edit: Also, just for the record the banners aren't taken from a database to my knowlege. The Gamecube banners are on the disc. The Wii Banners and other info is generated when you create a save file.
