A question about resolution

If I play in fullscreen, which resolution matters for performance and for the graphics' quality?:
1. Config>Display>Fullscreen Display Resolution
2. Direct3D9 config>General>Internal Resolution
3. Both matter for both performance and graphics' quality

Please answering either considering the Direct3D9 internal resolution is set to Auto (Multiple of 640x528), or to 2x/3x, if there's any difference between those situations.

Display resolution matters less for performance than internal resolution.
Display resolution doesn't matter for quality as long as it's greater than internal resolution. If it's lower, it will decrease the quality a lot.

Note that SSAA increases the effective internal resolution.
