That's still a ways off from mainstream acceptance.

For the forseeable future, all we have is Core i5 and the E8700.

How are your temps? I finally OC'd my Q600 Quad Core (2.40GHz original clock) to 3.00GHz and my temps under load are up to 70°.

Nice one dude. I also have an E8400 and just ordered a nice cooler.
My goal is it to reach stable 3.8GHz, but i would also be happy with 3.6GHz

Can't wait to play SMG then. Should run perfectly with fullspeed on the newest revision. (without frame skipping)

Woah, 70° is a lot. My temps are 24° idle and 34° under load. I use the Zerotherm NV Niavana 120 (air cooler!), which has a badass-cooling-power (thats almost what you reach with a cheap watercooler!).

Sadestly, I can't reach 3,8 stable. My highest value is 3,7 Ghz , else my PC hangs (although the temperature is only 34° -.-). I'm going to buy my me a good mainboard (300$), and then I try the 4,5 (I managed my 3,7 without any Voltage-increasing). But good luck, maybe you have a better mainboard and reach the 3,8.

Wow that's impressive.^^ Well unfortunately my case isn't that big so I already had problems with the montage of my Mugen 2. :/ I know 70° are pretty high, but most people said temps at 65° - 70° are allright...but they shouldn't be higher.

What I heard, the temperatures shouldn't be higher than 65° or so... depends on the CPU. But I would say, more important than the temperature overall is the increasement of temperature after overclocking. If you already had 65° before overclocking (without any stability problems) and then after that you have 70° its okay... but if you have 40° before and 70° after, there is something wrong. I would measure the temperatures with the normal clock of your CPU.

NO. That is NOT okay. If your machine was built by an OEM call for a refund or at least give them hell over the support line for the shit build quality.
If you built it yourself then please check the seat job on your HSF.

65 is NOT an acceptable 24/7 temp.

hello i have this question i want to overclock my CPU

is an intel celeron D 420 1.6 mhz
my mother board is an asus conroe 1337-D667

i checked the temp and i see 40 with fanspeed, however i would like to OC for see results

but iam pretty nub about this thing of OC when i go to the bios setup it says something like this:

OverClock mode: Auto (options: auto; CPU,PCIE async; CPU,PCIE dsync)
GPU frequency: 200 (isnt activated havent touched anything, but the range is 200-500)
PCIE frequency: 100 (isnt activated havent toouched anything, but the range is 75-150)

however when i select the second option only the GPU F can be changed, and when i pick the third one dsync both can be changed

my question is wtf is GPU F and PCIE F? what to put async or dsync?

ty for any advice

Are you sure it is GPU frequency and not CPU (I think so)? If it was CPU, you could overclock your CPU by setting the setting to "CPU, PCUE dsync" and increasing the CPU frequency.

I don't know about your CPU, I once had a Celeron D with 2,53 Ghz , and I managed to overclock it to 3,6 Ghz. Anyway, just try out... increase the 200 Mhz in your BIOS up to 5-10, reboot, check if everthing works (and check the temperature and check how much the clock increased), maybe make a short run of Dolphin. But if you really don't know so much about Oc' , stay serious, a 20% increase of clock should be the maximum that you should reach. (attention: with "clock", I mean the CPUs clock, and not the 200 Mhz of your CPU frequency = FSB).
