it is probably my system, anyways...
is 64 bit supposed to be faster for dolphin or is windows 7 just s*** compared to XP?

OS: Main: WinXP x32 Secondary:Win7 x64
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (not dual core)
GPU: Nvidia 7600 GT
RAM: 1GB

Obviously I am going to get lag
WinXPSad20-40 FPS ingame on brawl, 40-50 on SF assault, WW 10-15(Outside) 30 (inside))
Win7Sad10-20 FPS ingame on brawl, 22-41 on SF assault, WW 8-12(Outside) 25-30 (inside))
just wondering if x64 has any speed impact on the emulator
also what is the best setup (for speed) for brawl? I have watchdog (tried many things and I cant seem to find what increases the speed)

your pc sux

when you get a good system you'll find that w7 performance in games and general task is way more than in xp with the same system.

dolphin x64 is faster of course.
My Specs: AMD Phenom II x4 940 3.0ghz - w7/Ubuntu 11.04

you need to double your ram for win32 version if you want to play windows native games well, and 64bit typically uses double the ram in a proper 64bit app. So even without the weak CPU your probably going to struggle.

I have 2gb of ram and didn't think that enough for using 64bit efficiently, so am sticking with 32bit, 2x 5600+ runs most games pretty well and certainly very playably even at 1600x1200. CPU seems to be more important than the video card for these games.

I'm running windows 7 with 2G of RAM, and in all cases 64bit is *much* faster than the equivalent 32bit build. Really, your system isn't terrible so to speak, but you definitely need more than 1G of RAM. Seriously, if you get 2G of really fast RAM in there, you'll have more of a performance boost than you would think, even outside of Dolphin.

Also, make sure you're turning on Dual Core, even though you've only got a single-core processor. The multi-threading benefits are still there because of the way the windows kernel can handle the process rotation.

Oh: Since you're low on RAM and Windows Aero consumes a bit... much... try turning it off. Just go into your control panel for Personalization and kill the "enable transparency" option, or enable one of the basic (like Classic) themes in the bottom of that list. It doesn't affect a thing for me, but on lower RAM systems it might make a difference. (XP doesn't do the whole hardware accelerated desktop thing, which might be the main difference, as Win7 is pretty lightweight on memory otherwise. Unlike Vista, which just generally sucked.)

Well don't expect any single-core + only 1GB ram to perform well on Vista or 7.
Upgrade your hardware, because getting a 64 bit XP isn't worth the effort at times like these.

Is your motherboard AM2+ compatible? It might reduce some upgrade costs.
