60 FPS But Game is Choppy

Hi there,

While I'm running dolphin, the reported frame rate is always 60, but the game gets choppy. It seems that the game speed also slows down and it misses some controller inputs. The longer I play, the worse it gets.

I'm monitoring my system stats. GPU load never goes over 35% except on load screens. CPU load never goes above 15%, and temperatures are fine.

I've gone through the FAQs and set my windows power settings. I've played with pretty much all of the radeon settings and the graphics settings in dolphin, but nothing seems to make a difference.

The games I've been trying to get running are Smash Melee and Project M 3.6. It's the same on the custom Slippi build of Dolphin and on Dolphin 5.0-321.

Any ideas?

Thanks much.

We do not support custom builds here, you'll need to try the latest beta.

Roger. I tried with the latest beta 5.0-13178. Still the same issues.

The game seems to be running about the same on OpenGL and Vulkan - a little better on Vulkan. With Direct3D backends, I don't get any video. On the other versions of Dolphin, Direct3D 11 worked best.

You have the latest AMD drivers installed, and set the AMD GPU Power management to high, yeah?

I think I found the problem. I had to select a certain audio backend.

I never got it to run too well on the latest beta, but this solution worked on 5.0-321 and on the Slippi build.
