[5.0] Dumping doesn't let you choose a custom codec anymore - File size becomes huge

So I just tried dumping frames+audio with the new 5.0 release, but I've noticed I can't choose custom codecs anymore. This results in frames being dumped uncompressed and therefore huge file sizes. On 4.0-4870, whenever you try to dump frames, it opens a small window where you can choose your codec, for example h.264 if you have it installed. This is not the case with 5.0 anymore, it just starts the game without letting you choose a codec. Is there any way to get that functionality back in 5.0?

Also, are there any plans on adding audio compression for dumped audio (and letting users choose the path for dumped frames+audio)? Since it just saves them on your C: drive, and most people have SSDs nowadays, having ~80MB large audio files for 10 minutes of gameplay is quite bad.

Yes. Dolphin 5.0 doesn't support custom codecs.

No. You can use either a lossy codec or a lossless codec, but you can't dump uncompressed frames. You can switch between the two in Graphics > Advanced.

I see, thank you!

Do you know if there are any plans on letting users choose the compression ratio or any of the other options I mentioned? (compression for dumped audio, letting users choose the file path for dumped files)

Wanted to bump this. i agree with Morjik we should be able to chose the codec to dump frames with. the lossy format doesnt work with my video editor (adobe cc 2015 premier pro) so i have to convert the video in handbrake which is a pain... FFV1 wont dump 4k video and personally i think the langrith video is better for lossless video. FFV1 is seems quite slow at 1080p even when dumping to a slave ssd drive i have.

Not at the moment.

This functionality was removed when VFW was removed to make the frame dumping stuff better for the user and easier to maintain across OSes.

The person who generally works on that part is planning on adding more features eventually again to bring back some of the functionality that was cut and then some.

If you need this sort of functionality now, I recommend using something like OBS.
