Umm... I never said Dolphin currently has a known memory leak. Sometimes it happens, and users notice this and report it. But there is no major memory leak that will dramatically reduce your performance whenever you play.

Shonumi just meant that a memory leak could cause slowdown, if there was one. There are no big memory leaks right now, and the biggest memory leak that's been in Dolphin as far as I remember only became severe if you loaded thousands of savestates.

Dolphin's RAM usage isn't especially high, and that's pretty easy to check: Just open up Task Manager while Dolphin is running.

how about gpu memory leak? can dolphin run efficiently on a core 2 duo? will dolphin enhance the performance for intel 4000 graphics series? lessen the ram usage for players who have 2GB or less ram? in short will dolphin enhance the performance for low end systems?

There is currently no outstanding work on improving performance on low-end systems. Investigating exactly what would be the target for improvements would take significant engineer time and effort, even before any investigation on if it is possible to speed up those systems is performed.

That is not to say that there won't be some PR that appears tomorrow that removes some massive bottleneck, but that is extremely unlikely. As far as I'm aware, none of the current active devs have any active interest in performance of such old systems. The cost/benefit ratio just doesn't add up and doesn't seem to align with their personal interests (Remember - dolphin devs are *volunteers* - so it's natural they'll do what they're interested in, as they're doing it for *fun*!)

Any performance changes on such a system will more likely be accidental, if measurable.

That's assuming optimizations for old systems are even possible. Frankly... they kind of aren't. Dolphin was optimized for old hardware as much as it could be in the 2.0 era, hacking together as much as it could to be as fast as possible. Considering the performance and available hardware features of the time, they didn't have much choice! But times are different now. Dolphn's new approach is to use new features of modern hardware to get better accuracy *and* higher performance. There really is no way to achieve that on older hardware.

exactly what will be the new technology that the devs are working for the emulator? is this the all in one nintendo emulator for dolphin?merge with other emulators, support for bootleg systems? unreal engine 4 like optimization? what is it actually im very curious, because in my opinion dolphin is the best emulator because it has achieved many things and it have many great devoted devs.

chumpz, that has nothing to do with what I said. :/

But, to answer your questions: devs will optimize however they can as new hardware features appear, no, no, what, no.

what i mean for bootleg systems is if someone created a bootleg handheld console that the homebrew/OS of that system is dolphin that can play gcn/wii games
