I wonder if I should wait for the 980Ti then... :3

Or wait 50 years for the GTX1980Ti with its 5 billion cuda cores

You should probably wait for GM200 since GM204 is GK104's successor and I'm guessing GM200 is GK110's successor.

Or just get a 980......

We have no idea when the 980 TI will come out or anything else for that matter.

He said he could wait. I would probably just buy 3 970s and get it over with since Maxwell has really good SLI scaling but whatever.

256 bit bus doesn't matter. The GPU's L2 cache' bandwidth increase allows it to have >780ti bandwidth

Unless the cache is exhausted. Which happens more often at higher resolutions. Memory bandwidth matters a lot for high resolution rendering. Big/fast caches can't fully address that. However instances of this actually being the case with video games are extremely rare as evidenced by benchmarks. The only time this may happen is if you combine 4K resolution with a ton of AA in an already bandwidth intensive game.
