I am playing gamecube and wii games in 4k and am realizing just how stunningly beautiful they are in 4k. I am seeing for my self now that 4k is the way of the future. I am playing on a 1080p monitor. My question is, if I played them on a decent 4k monitor would my face melt with astonishment? Or would I be pretty meh about the difference? Thanks

4k... 1080p monitor...

I assume you mean downsampling (SSAA/FSAA or DSR?)

All you're seeing is a less aliased 1080p image. 4k should look pretty different depending on the amount of space between you and the monitor and the size of the monitor. I can guarantee your face won't melt though. Tongue

Spoiler:
if it does then you should ask for a refund.

Im using whatever method dolphin uses. I am assuming it is native 4k. I know it has to downsample, but it still looks way better than 1080p.

So you are saying that A 4k monitor Won't necessarily look better than the 4k 1080p downscale, but just look different?

And I'm sorry if I seem like a noob, because I am Tongue

I don't have a 4k monitor, but 4k is objectively better so the image should definitely look better.

It will look better (unless you're so far from the screen that the extra detail isn't visible to your eyes).

Uh? What kind of non sense is this? I thought 6x Native (for 4K) and 3x Native (for 1080) makes no difference in a 1080 display because Dolphin's downscale doesn't work that way.
From France with love.

As far as I know, it makes less difference than it ideally would, but that doesn't mean there's no difference at all.

In my humble opinion it makes a HUGE difference! Try it if you haven't yet.
