Me and my pal are trying to play smash online with each other. I am running windows 8 and he is running windows 7. We both the 4.0-652 versions of dolphin but my version says Start Netplay and requires a port and when I try to host i am given no code. His version says Connect to Netplay and works fine. We are using SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE 1.02 and this is really annoying because I do not know why it is not working. Please advise. Thanks

Are you sure you are both using the same dolphin version? They may have the same version number, but be from different branches.

Honestly no. I went on this site and got the 4.0-652 launcher. That is what is says on his launcher too. Is there a 4.0-652 version with Connect to Netplay?

There's the 652 from the netplay branch, which we technically don't support here, and there may also be a 652 in the master branch, which would be supported, but you'd just be told to replace it with the latest dev instead.

If you're not going to be doing any online smash tournaments that force 652 to be used, and won't be using any of the UDP stuff, you'll probably be better off if you both switch to the latest dev.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: Intel i5 4670K @3.4GHz... for now @4.6GHz with a quick and dirty (yet stable) OC. May get faster in a bit before the end of time.
RAM: 16GB (Down from 24 GB after some was given to siblings)
GPU: Radeon Vega 56
