I have a 3rd-party Wiimote w/Motion Plus and a Nunchuk. Works great on my old Wii console, but doesn't seem to be picked up by Dolphin. My PC's all have integrated Bluetooth built-in. Is there a trick to getting these detected or are most 3rd-party Wiimotes simply not compatible? I'm using the latest Dev version of Dolphin. Thanks for any info.

The trick to getting third-party Wii Remotes to work is Bluetooth passthrough. But how well this works depends on what Bluetooth chipset you have.

Thanks...tried Bluetooth passthrough and the emulator throws an error (I press the "Sync" button within the controller before I launch the game - is this the correct way to use the Passthrough feature?) so my guess is that the 3rd-party Wiimote probably doesn't have a standard pairing mechanism that allows pairing through Windows 10. I've read that some of the knock-off Wiimotes won't pair at all through a standard Bluetooth controller. 09-09-2020, 01:25 AM

I believe it makes more sense to press it after the game has started. (09-09-2020, 01:25 AM)JosJuice Wrote: Which error? Here's what I'm seeing on my end (screenshots explain it best)... ![]() ![]() I'm not using an adapter, Bluetooth is built-in. My understanding based on another thread posted here a few years back is that some 3rd-party Wiimotes can only be discovered using "LIAC" queries, otherwise they're not discoverable as are official Wiimotes. Haven't been able to find software that will do this in Windows 10. 09-09-2020, 05:57 AM
"Built-in" Bluetooth is still an adapter.
More set up is required than just ticking the option in Dolphin. https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?t...assthrough (09-09-2020, 05:57 AM)Billiard26 Wrote: "Built-in" Bluetooth is still an adapter. Thanks Billiard - I'll go through the config and take another shot at it. I figured it wasn't as simple as I had assumed! On another note, I did order up a MayFlash DolphinBar because it seems to simplify the whole Wiimote on PC ordeal.
Well I ended up using an official Wiimote and pairing with my host "gaming PC" which is on another floor of my house. Dolphin recognized the official Wiimote once connected and it works great. What's even better is that I can still using the Steam streaming client with the Wiimote on an entirely different floor of the house, streaming the games in 1080p to my UHD 4K TV! As long as the Wiimote isn't too far where Bluetooth signal would be lost, it still works with Dolphin using a wireless Wii sensor bar underneath the TV. Definitely beyond my expectations but it's all working quite well now. I figured a paired Official Nintendo Wiimote would not work through the CLIENT machine via streaming, it must be connected to the HOST system - and the sensor bar obviously must be wherever the Wiimote is being used. As long as those steps are followed, and the Wiimote is within reasonable distance from the HOST system, it all works seamlessly.
