Well the PC games I currently play obviously don't need it, since I'm on a Radeon 5570 But that's not really the point, as I plan on using this to play games I can't currently. Superclocked GTX 670 may be a bit overkill, but for price vs. performance in that price range, it seems that it cannot be beat. It's probably either going to be that or a GTX 570, however the extra $100 seems like it's worth it (and it's money I would have otherwise spent on the 3770k).
I'd prefer to get an nvidia card with this machine, and I've been a satisfied EVGA customer for a very long time. But that being said, what alternatives would you recommend? $450 is at the very upper bound of what I would like to spend, with $250 being the minimum. I'm really just looking for the best bang for my buck, and something that will last me quite a while.
