3.0-587 Will not create memory card

My game runs perfectly, graphics and speed-wise, but the emulator will not create a memory card file. When I manually attempt in the settings, it asks if I want to create a 16mb memory card, then asks which kind, I have tried running the program in administrator and attempted both options, as well as not in administrator with the same options, but either way I get the same thing: Windows closes it with the 'sending error to Windows' pop-up, I tried the x32 just in case, also I tried downloading 3.0 and trying it - same problem.

Where's your Dolphin folder? If it's in C:\Program Files, pls move it out to the Desktop.

It is already located on the Desktop

Update: Restarted my computer, did not help

so there is a crash when you are trying to save while playing a game? or is it trying to create a new memory card file with the memory card manager?
you are being too vague for me to understand exactly what you are doing.

are you downloading from http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html or somewhere else?

if you are changing any settings, try extracting dolphin 3.0 to a new folder on your desktop, change absolutely no settings and run a gamecube game to create a memory card. report what happens exactly!

I have no idea how this happened, but I attempted and it seemed to fix itself, and I haven't been home, I just got back and it worked? Very bizarre. This had been bothering me for 2 days now! I Googled different phrases to see if anyone had a similar situation, it appears that whatever was causing it ceased

I have similar issue, that Dolphin emulator v3.0-758 crashes every time I try to edit the Memory Card A path in the Memory Card Manager. Windows just shuts the program down. I've tried to run as administrator and I have disabled "read only" from the whole Dolphin folder. I'm not running the program from desktop, should I?

Also, the only game I've tried playing is Wind Waker (EU). It launches and runs well, but I cannot get past "creating the first save game in slot A" in the game, as there is no MemoryCardA.EU.raw -file on my PC. The only file similar to that is "SRAM.raw" in /User/GC -folder, but I can't use it either as it's too small for a memory card file.

When I launch the game I just can't press "Enter/Return" when the game ask to create that first save game file. I can navigate between Yes and No with arrow keys though.

Also, I've tried this now running it from desktop and with earlier version (3.0-757) and the same problems occur. In Windows I noticed that .raw-files are associated with Winamp, but even disabling it didn't fix this.

Another edit, whenever I boot the game in Dolphin it doesn't even ask about creating a memory card file. I suspect my version of Wind Waker could be broken. I think I'll have to try to create a memory card file with some other game.

the memory card file is created when the game writes to it for the first time, it is unnecessary and will probably cause problems trying to create it manually.

just make sure you select yes and press whatever key is mapped to 'A'. even if you select yes a memory card will not be created if you press 'B'
