Not really, the implementation could be ported from https://github.com/Themaister/SSNES
This way we could load any available filters/shaders (they need to be compliant with it ofc). But I don't think it's worth doing so, as there aren't many 2D games out there.

The SNES rendered at a much lower resolution than the GC/Wii. Thus, implementing a filter on the CPU is feasible there, but it totally is not feasible for us to upscale 640x528 to 1280x1024 on the CPU... We'd need to implement that stuff using shaders and iirc all other emulators currently implement their upscaling filters on the CPU, so we'd need to write it from scratch as well. Sucks Wink

EDIT:
Oh well. And before you ask: It's not as easy as it sounds. You need to know tons of details about how rasterization works on a pixel-perfect level. We don't even have a proper SSAA shader because of that..

Ssssshhhhhhh!!

Don't tell them that. Do you want someone to make you work on it again? Tongue

Damn, I didn't realize it, idd some platforms, such as Wii or PS3, struggle to emulate some sens games with certain shaders enabled =p Totally not worth the effort.

Dolphin does not need HQ2x filter to improve the 2D graphic games?

Metal Slug (wii) Bad graphic.

Snes9x and BSNES (old QT version) can do those filters with shaders. Here are some Cg ones and mudlord has some HLSL ones somewhere.
But I would just say just stop playing emulators in emulators (insert yo dawg joke). Play Metal Slug in MAME and Mario All Stars in Snes9x.

It drives me crazy when people say things like this. These games were designed for interlaced screens and look absolutely wretched on HD monitors and TVs. I have been scouring the internet for an emulator that plays Capcom Vs. SNK 2 with some kind of filter like this because it looks horribly pixelated in high resolutions. Since it came out on Dreamcast, Naomi, Gamecube, Playstation 2, and Xbox, I would think that I would be able to find something out there, but no emulator for any of these systems even offer so much as scanlines, which at least emulates the effect of a CRT and actually does make it look more "authentic". I came very close in Dolphin, which is a FANTASTIC emulator - I'm very impressed - because in the OpenGL options there is a nightvision filter with scanlines, but no option for just the scanlines.

Oh, and texture filtering definitely improves the quality of the sprites, but causes very noticeable tearing in the models.

Sorry but giving 2D sprites in 2D games a sharper look is just stupid and that's pretty much the reason why I hate using shitty filters HQ2x for 2D games which is why the bilinear filter is the only filter I use for 2D games as it only just softens the pixels and doesn't make them look sharper  (but then again everything I've just said were just my opinions on the the subject and if you want to use shit like HQ2x for 2D games then go ahead).
