So I've noticed that Dolphin will use one of two different user interfaces on Android, depending on how the app is opened.

If I open it normally from the main menu or app list it looks like this;

A fairly understated dark layout where the games are listed horizontally.

However, if I open it another way (for example from my non-default TV Launcher or from Google Drive after updating the app) it gives me this interface:

A lighter, more grid-based interface where GameCube and Wii ISOs are listed on separate pages.

I'm just wandering, why is this the case? Is it deliberate? Is it known about?

The first one is designed for TVs and the second one is designed for phones. The system normally picks the right one automatically depending on the device type. I'm not sure exactly how that device type detection works, though...

I've run into this weird problem a lot.

I have no idea what causes it.

Ah, that sort of makes sense. Google Drive isn't actually technically compatible with the SHIELD for some reason (you can't get it off the Play Store, I had to sideload it) so it clearly thinks it's running on a phone when I open Dolphin from it.

*Edit* While I have you, I don't suppose there's any chance of you guys introducing the option to have games be displayed as their little banners like on the PC version of Dolphin, rather than as sreenshots? That'd be cool. love you guys, you do awesome work.

I also think that would be nice, but... well, most of the devs that are active right now don't have the knowledge or motivation to work on the Android GUI (including me). We've had a few new people drop in and make Android PRs during the year, though. One of them added the ability to use banners, but I think banners currently only get used as a fallback if there's no screenshot.
