Hello guys, I'm new here.
I'm trying to play Last Story now. As I understand it's locked to 30FPS, so I guess it runs 100% most of the time (sometimes there are slowdowns to 24-25FPS, but they are completely bearable). I didn't notice any texture problems or crashes yet, though I don't use EFB Copies to RAM. However, when there are video cutscenes, it suddenly drops to 14-15FPS. I'm currently at Chapter 2 and there is a long video cutscene there, it's really slow. Other than that, there are little problems, games like Xenoblade work perfectly, for example. Here are my current settings: Settings: DualCore, IdleSkipping, JITIL (though there wasn't any difference between that and JIT), locking threads to cores. Video settings: Direct3D9 backend, 1920x1080/16:9 fullscreen resolution, 4x Native internal resolution, 16x anisotropic filter, Scaled EFB Copy with forced filtering. Hacks: Ignore format changes (also tried skipping EFB Access from CPU but didn't do anything), EFB Copies to Texture, fast Texture Cache, disabled External Frame Buffer, Cache Display Lists, Disabled per-pixel Depth and OpenMP Texture Decoder. Is there any way to fix this (without lowering Internal resolution much)? Do I have to overclock my CPU (and can I even do that with my PC setup?). As I said, everything else except video there is perfect or almost perfect. (08-03-2012, 10:18 PM)Tetraforce Wrote: Do I have to overclock my CPU (and can I even do that with my PC setup?) Yes for this game at least. But is it a 3770 or a 3770K? If it's the K version no problem to overclock. But if it's the non-K version...

Well, CPUID CPU-Z just shows 'Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz'
Is it so or is there some other place I have to look? 08-04-2012, 12:15 AM

I never overclocked before (in fact, I just built this PC), but I guess I'll find some guides on that. Two questions though: what frequency would be enough? 4 GHz? And what is the 'safe' area in regards to the internal temperature?
Thanks, anyway. 08-04-2012, 12:47 AM
Quote:I guess I'll find some guides on that Yeah I got a good guide but it's in french. Nevertheless should be easy to find one by googling Quote:what frequency would be enough? 4 GHz? Minimum. This game is really demanding Quote:what is the 'safe' area in regards to the internal temperature? Depends on the processor. For 3770? don't know but guess you'd better not go beyond 100°C

With turbo it goes up to 4100+ Mhz and still. Which is really strange considering the video in other games works properly. I'll try some more things, but I guess there is not much I can do.

Tetraforce Wrote:JITIL (though there wasn't any difference between that and JIT)Yes there is. JITIL is slower than JIT, but it's less prone to freezing for The Last Story. So stick with JITIL for this game. Tetraforce Wrote:Is there any way to fix this (without lowering Internal resolution much)?Lowering your internal resolution will have no effect since your GPU can easily handle the x4 IR. Tetraforce Wrote:Do I have to overclock my CPU (and can I even do that with my PC setup?).You can't overclock without an unlocked CPU. But yes, it would definitely help you out here. Something like 4.5GHz is what I would recommend. Anyhow, you can use the build you're using now, in combination with build 6505 (SSE42, 64-bit) by Lectrode. The 6505 build gives you a nice speedup, but it's not as stable as the latest builds. Make sure you use the ingame saves when transfering the saves over. Savestates are not compatible with different Dolphin versions! Lastly, read the wiki for The Last Story to make your life easier. You can easily switch between RAM and Texture ingame when you need it by pressing the hotkey (5, iirc). 08-04-2012, 02:30 AM
Silly question:
Is there a way to assign a hotkey to the pad?
