Hi there,
we're finally close to release, only a few more blocking bugs need to be fixed.
So here is the thing: One of the (many) key features of 3.0 is the addition of translations. We do have quite a few of those, but many just suck. This thread is supposed to clarify which translations to include in 3.0 and which translations should just be dropped.
Why drop translations in the first place, you'd think any translation is better than English? - not really, translations aren't useful at all if they invent a whole different meaning to each option we have.
What can be regarded release-quality? Let's say a) all common strings should be translated b) there shouldn't be any obvious translation or spelling mistakes c) it shouldn't cause any glitches (iirc some arabic translations have problems with RTL-stuff?) d) there shouldn't be any other obvious reason not to include the translation in 3.0
TL;DR: Just answer to this thread if you think a specific translation is good enough for release OR if you think a translation should be dropped.
And please, think about your response. Don't answer if you just WANT the translation to be included; the inclusion wish should be justified.
List of languages which have been voted for (further confirmation welcome):
- Portuguese (Runo)
- Turkish (Runo)
- Arabic (Runo + mansoor)
- Spanish (Runo)
- Hungarian (kispistax + exoterm)
- Greek (Link_to_the_past + johny5mpellos)
- French (Runo + FRtranslator)
- Portuguese Brazilian (Runo + Jhonn)
List of languages which have been voted against (further confirmation welcome):
- Hebrew (Schwimmer)
- Hindi (Runo)
- German (neobrain + Runo)
- Italian
List of languages which need further confirmation:
- Chinese for inclusion? (qkthomas)
- Polish (Baszta, Runo... supposedly getting updated properly soon)
- any other language not mentioned, yet
