Experimented around with this emulator since quite some time now since as a coder ( and a game dev ) I like toying around with emulators as it's interesting to see what people get out of it. Now what goes for Dolphin the main problem is the wiimote plugin. I'm testing here only the emulation support hence with mouse/keyboard/gamepad only. In this department the plugin though has a lot of troubles. Now having issues is not a problem with an emulator but if you go about making multi-wiimote support and other funny stuff but basic controls are not working in emulation mode then something is off.
Now the main problem is the gamepad as this is what I tested so far ( mouse is simply not working ). I used a game for testing which uses gestures. Those are the simple ones like swinging upwards and alike. The plugin seems to provide options to attach the swinging to an analog stick on the gamepad. Having two of those sticks there this sounds like an interesting idea to do but unfortunately it does not work. The wiimote plugin fails to handle analog sticks at all and the swing/tilt options do not seem to have any effect at all. Besides the settings you change in the button configuration dialog box are not saved nor do they seem to have any effect. Another problem in the plugin is that SDL does not work at all although it is given as an option. The gamepad is entirely not recognized. Only DirectInput seems to work to some degree.
It would be nice if you could give this plugin a whack in this direction. Getting basic controls working should come always first. Doing features first only hampers the development progress.
