It really bugs me that QP and competitive have different rules for the game modes. And the competitive rules are way better. QP just forces you to keep the game going for a needlessly long time by repeating rounds even when one team is clearly doing better. Comp. is quick and concise, yet fair. The thing is with random skill levels a lot of people would be complaining and throwing due to being matched with much lower level players. It would be fun to try out every now and again, maybe in the arcade, but I don't think it would be as popular as the other modes.

The real problem is people who complain about skill on QP and Arcade mode. The whole point of QP is that you're playing for fun; the practice range can only get you so far, you need some sort of real crucible to hone your skills on a new hero. And people shouldn't expect some ridiculously composed team filled with meta characters and everyone communicating effectively. It's all we need; ranked and unranked. The problem isn't the game mode, it's that people are fuckheads who complain about everything.

I like being able to click on quick play, pick whichever hero it randomly decides to display a preview of first (or someone else if there's a major hole in the team), and then shoot some stuff (and then if we're losing, maybe switch to D.Va because for some reason I'm a lot better with her than most other heroes, even though I aim to not specialise). I've never had any particular issue with this. Ideally, when I do this, I want the game to automatically put me with vaguely similarly skilled players so I can play in my usual way without any steamrolling in either direction. If I press Quick Play, I want to be able to just play the game and enjoy it without having to fuss. I don't want to be matched with a bunch of people with genuinely no idea how to play their current hero or people who don't care at all about how well they do, but I also don't want to be expected to be at the top of my game all the time. If an 'extra casual' mode is added, I would prefer it not to be under the quick play button. I like the idea of quick play being the default way most people want to play, and having caring a lot or not caring much being separate opt-in modes.
Also, not entirely related, but I'm not the biggest fan of voice chat with strangers, but I'll do voice chat when playing with friends. This seems to be something I'm expected to do in comp.

You're expected to voice chat in comp because if you're playing to win, you need to communicate with your team. You can't do this by typing because that means you've stopped playing in order to type it. So you need some way to communicate with your team without using your hands--and would you look at that, you have a mouth that you probably aren't using for anything else at the moment This is necessary because you need to tell your team if you, for example, notice an enemy going behind you or trying to flank, or telling people when to use their ults or what abilities are currently on cooldown so you can effectively combo.

If you're like me and ALWAYS get matched up with GM and Top 500 in QP you know the struggle.
